June is almost over?!

June, how could you go by so quickly!? I didn’t even feel like I got to know you in the short time we had spent together! So much has happened, and now you plan on leaving just like that?! As a parting gift I shall pay tribute to the times that we spent together… I hope that I get along with July just as well!

How hard can it be?!

We finally got HDTV at home (along with the prerequisite DVR) to hook up to the projector – and WHAT a difference! Wow! I’ve seen HD at the store, at a friend’s place etc… but there is just something incredible about seeing it projected to 92″! Wow! Anyway, after playing around with the box for a few hours last night, tweaking the setup and setting it to record today’s World Cup games (Thank god for ESPN2 in HD and dual tuners!) I vowed not to find out any of the scores today and, instead, watch it at home after work. I have tried to avoid all news websites, as well as BJ’s blog so as not to ruin the result. While catching up with some other blogs I checked out TwinF (a couple traveling the world) and IMMEDIATELY closed the browser window as soon as I saw reference to the World Cup! Not sure if it really gave anything away… Later on in the day, I was on another computer and I opened up Internet Explorer (my first mistake) and it went directly to MSN which I also immediately closed as I thought that I saw game results!!! ARRGH!!! I’m going to pretend it was for another team, and watch the game tonight anyway… but I never realized how difficult it is not finding out the scores!! One of the downfalls of being too connected I suppose!
Regardless, I’ll be taking BJ’s advice and having a beer to settle my nerves before the game!
At least I know that I can visit Hutch’s blog without any worries as he has fallen off of the face of the earth!

Cars!

From one entry about cars to another! I can’t help it, I’m too excited about what I accomplished this past weekend not to post about it! Yes, part of this weekend did involve seeing Pixar’s Cars but I’ll get to that in a moment. First I must get to these videos!

YES! The Beast is finally running again! I could hardly believe it myself! With the assortment of parts I have in my GTI from different VWs, I was quite hesitant to start it up for the first time – but start it did! Besides a minor oil-leak (which I already know how to fix) it runs great! I have quiet a few other things to take care of before its an everyday driver, but this was a HUGE first step!

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Katty and I caught a showing of Cars on Sunday night! I very much enjoyed it! There is humor for everybody, but I REALLY enjoyed the stuff targeted to the car crowd! It really got me stoked to go on a nice scenic drive with the GTI!

To Hell and back – in a Ford GT

A sign that you are in Hell

HELL, Michigan (AP) — They’re planning a hot time in Hell on Tuesday. The day bears the date of 6-6-06, or abbreviated as 666 — a number that carries hellish significance. And there’s not a snowball’s chance in Hell that the day will go unnoticed in the unincorporated hamlet 60 miles west of Detroit.

This was the story I found on CNN recently. How many people can say they have been to Hell and back? What better vehicle to do it in than a Ford GT

6th Sense?

This is one of a multi part post I was going to write yesterday on 6/6/06. The rest are soon to follow.

6th sense

What if, seconds before your laptop began stalling, you could feel the hard drive spin up under the load? Or you could tell if an electrical cord was live before you touched it? For the few people who have rare earth magnets implanted in their fingers, these are among the reported effects — a finger that feels electromagnetic fields along with the normal sense of touch.

A Wired News article by Quinn Norton.

Any of you guys ready to give this a shot?!

Not so well

I realize that I’ve been really bad at blogging as of late. Many of you may think its because I’ve been busy at work – but that isn’t entirely the case… I’ve been diagnosed with walking pneumoniafantastic. Don’t even get halfway into my second week at the job, and I have to take 1.5 sick days… arrgh. It seems to be getting better, and I did work half of the day today – so I’m hoping the worst is behind me. On a positive note, I did get to meet my new neighbors!

nest

As I was opening the window Tuesday night, I heard the sound of wings fluttering. I looked down, and lo and behold I had knocked the poor bird off of her nest! There were her two little yougins snoozing away! While staying home and resting the following day I saw them alone again and I had to take a pic! When I opened the shutters from the other window, who did I see?!

watch

But big daddy watching over his birds! The pattern is as follows: mommy stays on the nest to keep the little guys warm (and to regurgitate their food… while daddy is out and about gallivanting around town. The only time she leaves the nest, is the few times that he comes back – does he step up and keep them warm?! Nope, just hangs out next to them watching me with his wee beady eyes!

The comments are open for name suggestions for the recently hatched!
