Here I sit at the beginning of my voyage. Six weeks of travel and adventure… it begins now, with this single step. I find myself a bit nervous, more so than I have been in past travels. Is it the scope of the voyage? Or is the uncertainty that I feel about my life at this moment? Only time will tell.
Friday night was a journey of a different sort. With the city of Chicago as our backdrop and Millennium Park as our stage, the Grant Park Orchestra performed one of my favorite pieces of music; Gustav Holst’s The Planets.
What better way to celebrate the summer than a camping trip! This past weekend we decided to pack our bags and head to the great Smoky Mountains National Park. Greg, Mila, Katty and I crammed all of our gear in Greg’s Golf and escaped into the mysterious, mountainous woods of the Smokys!
The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.

The weathered paint shows the passing of time. Unseen, just to the right is the date it was painted: 9/96… almost 9 years ago. It is amazing to think how much has changed in that time, more amazing yet to imagine what awaits in the years to come.
